Bolton Bereavement Service

Our Listening support service for children and young people who have experienced a death or loss and are struggling to cope with their emotions surrounding their grief. We offer around 6-8 sessions at school, college, at one of our centres or over the phone. Advice and signposting can be given to young people, families, school, and other professionals to aid the conversation around bereavement.

What does the Bereavement Service offer?

Advice and Signposting

We provide information about bereavement and the grief process to young people, families and other professionals such as teachers and social workers. We signpost to resources that encourage conversations and work about the death of a loved one.

Listening Service

We offer a safe space for young people to talk about their experience of bereavement without the fear of judgment. We support young people to understand their grief, find their own way forward and make positive choices.

Low Level Therapeutic Sessions

Resources and activities are used to work through difficult emotions surrounding a bereavement – usually offered in conjunction with the listening service.

8-18 years old. Bereavement must have been at least six months ago.

The service is for young people aged 8-18, who live in Bolton and have experienced bereavement and would benefit from extra support.

After gaining consent from the young person, please complete the referral form and return it to bereavement@blgc.co.uk The team will be in touch to agree the best plan of support.
