Bolton Lads and Girls Club (BLGC) provides young people school years 7-11 with an alternative provision for them to progress and succeed into sustained education.
Our highly skilled team of Engagement Mentors build trusted relationships, offering a safe space for young people to feel heard and explore their strengths. As a Bolton Council approved provider, BLGC supports young people to connect, grow in confidence, and realise their potential through alternative education.
BLGC provides an alternative curriculum and enrichment offer for young people, delivering up to 18 hours of informal education per week. Our flexible provision supports schools in enhancing their offer and helps young people re-engage with learning in a supportive, inclusive environment.
We do this to provide an alternative learning experience in a supportive, safe environment to re-engage young people at risk of low attendance or exclusion. Our aim is to help them make positive choices by encouraging changes in behaviour and attitude, while developing essential life skills. Ultimately, we support young people to contribute positively to society and successfully reintegrate into mainstream education or the most appropriate next step for their development.
How do we achieve this? Our aim is to improve school attendance and engagement and prevent exclusion from mainstream school when we can. We believe through building on young peoples strengths and boosting self-esteem and self-belief young people are more likely to believe they can achieve in mainstream school. We are able to physically support a successful reintegration back into mainstream school as an additional service.
